9th Renault Slovenian Open Opens in Domžale

Ljubljana, 4 May - All matches on the first day of the 9th Renault Slovenian Open tournament were carried out on Monday despite some rain (a prize fund of US$ 125,000). First seeded Kenneth Carlsen of Denmark, placed 67 on the ATP, defeated "lucky looser", France's J. F. Bachelot (6:3, 6:3). Second seeded Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic beat Italy's Marco Meneschincheri with 1:6, 7:5 in 7:5.
