Slovene Banks Make More Profit in 1997

Total pre-tax profits of Slovene banks increased by 16.7 percent in nominal terms to SIT 21.4 billion (about US$ 130 million) at the end of 1997. Positive balance of the revaluation result amounted to SIT 19.2 billion (about US$ 115 million) or 90 percent of total profits. Four banks operated at a loss in 1997, according to the Bank of Slovenia annual report.
