Mejak: Succession Negotiations Depend on International Community; Westendorp: International Arbitration Might be Best Solution
Ljubljana/Brussels, 7 May - SUCCESSION/MEJAK/WESTENDORP
The international community will now have to express its stance on the succession issues and negotiations, Head of the Slovene negotiating team Miran Mejak told STA on Thursday in Ljubljana. It is a well-known fact that Sir Arthur Watts, the international mediator between the five sides involved a dispute over the succession issues concerning the former Yugoslavia, found out during his last tour of the five successor states in April that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia kept rejecting the so called mini memorandum on succession issues. Watts has therefore informed the successor states that it is pointless to continue negotiations under such conditions.
