The anniversary of the Berlin airlift was certainly a good opportunity to reflect upon what unites Europe and the USA after 50 years, and in the aftermath of the changes emerging from the end of the Cold War. As traditional for anniversaries, the statements given by U.S. President Bill Clinton and his host Helmut Kohl were bombastic, but after the ceremony many pragmatists labelled them a sentimental policy of nice words which could hardy have any impact on the rather complicated preset day, Delo says on Friday.
