Minister Frlec Presents Slovenia's Views on International Criminal Court

Rome, 15 June - CONFERENCE/U.N./CRIMINAL/COURT/SLOVENIA
At the U.N. diplomatic conference on the establishment of the International Criminal Court in Rome, Slovene Foreign Minister Boris Frlec presented Slovenia's views on the establishment and competences of the Court, as were advocated by Slovenia on the U.N. preparatory committee. Minister Frlec stressed the Court should be autonomous and independent, complementary with the national courts. It should be authorised to try perpetrators of the most serious crimes and violations of international humanitarian law, in cases when national courts cannot or do not want to prosecute them.
