Difficult Situation of Slovene Metal-Working Industry
Ljubljana, 18 June - SLOVENIA/METAL/INDUSTRY
In 1997, Slovenia's metal-working industry, which employed 19.4 percent of all employed in industry, accounted for 13.3 percent of the total profits made by the processing industries and for 22.5 percent of the total losses. The situation is difficult - the development of the branch is hindered by inflation, high interest rates, increasing expenses and generally high consumption, members of the board of directors of the Association of Metallurgic Industry agreed at their Thursday's session.
