GDP Increased by 1.9 Percent in the First Quarter
Ljubljana, 19 June - STATISTICS/GROSS/DOMESTIC/PRODUCT
Gross domestic product (GDP) in fixed prices dating from 1992 increased by 1.9 percent in the first quarter of 1998 compared with the last quarter of the previous year; this is by 0.6 percent higher growth than in the previous quarter (1.3 percent). The growth rate on the annual level also shows strong rise; GDP was in the first quarter of this year by 6.5 percent higher over the first quarter in 1997. Slovenia has not registered such a high growth rate (on the annual level) since the second quarter of 1994, the National Statistical Office reported.
