European Union negotiators for the EU enlargement process Nikolaus van der Pas and Jaime Garcia Lombardero visited Slovenia last week. They met with representatives of Slovene political and economic life, who briefed them about the process of Slovenia's preparations for EU membership. A delegation of the British parliamentary committee for European legislation visited Slovenia to gather information about the process of Slovenia's accession to the EU and the related problems. The delegation met with representatives of the Slovene ministries of foreign affairs, justice, labour and environment. The main topics of the consultations of Klaus Neubert, a high-ranking German diplomat in charge of questions related to Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, who paid a two-day visit to Slovenia, were bilateral relations, EU enlargement, Slovenia's accession to the EU and NATO, Slovenia's role in the UN Security Council and the situation in Kosovo.
