Minister Bandelj Says New Road Safety Act is Good

After a new road safety act took effect on May 1 1998, the number of car accidents reached 4987 in the May-to-June period, 31 percent down from the same time last year. The death toll in the same period was 38 persons, 31 down from the same time last year, with the number of those heavily injured falling 53 percent and of those slightly injured 38 percent. "The act is good. Its effects are even better than it has been expected," Interior Minister Mirko Bandelj told Sunday's Nedelo.
