Government Grants Concession for Hydroelectric Power Stations on the Sava
Ljubljana, 23 July - GOVERNMENT/SESSION
Joint venture Sava d.o.o. was granted a concession to build hydroelectric power stations on the Sava river between Suhadol and the border with Croatia, Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Pavel Gantar told a news conference after today's government session. Sava d.o.o. is a joint venture set up by Slovenia's Savske elektrarne Ljubljana (Sava Power Plants Ljubljana) and the Austrian umbrella electricity supplier. While the former holds 51 percent of the capital, the Austrian capital amounts to 49 percent. The government, however, would like to reduce the share of foreign capital to 35 percent. Fresh capital is planed to be supplied by way of issuing shares amounting to 20 percent of the concessionaire's capital. The project is worth nearly one billion German marks.
