Ljubljana Stock Exchange's Report on Trading in First Half of 1998

The first half of 1998 saw a rise of 23 percent in the turnover of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange from the same period 1997, amounting to SIT 56.2 billion. With March (SIT 15.4 billion) and June (SIT 12.5 billion) being the most hectic months on the Stock Exchange, the trading peak of the day of SIT 1.3 billion was recorded on 30 June. The SBI share index rose by 19.6 percent to 1,679,57 points in the period from 31 December 1997 through 30 June 1998. In end-June, the market capitalization (the shares of investment companies excluded) totaled SIT 508.9 billion, up 53 percent from end-June 1997, according to a report on the trading in the January-to-June period, published by the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
