An Average of 72,000 Persons Unemployed in 1997

Slovenia's labour force reached 978,000 persons in 1997, of which 906,000 were employed and 72,000 unemployed, a labour force survey revealed, based on internationally adjusted definitions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the EU's statistics office Eurostat. Slovenia's population in the same year was 1.987 million. The ILO standards employed, the average 1997 unemployment rate amounted to 7.4 percent, the National Statistical Office said.
