XIVth Congress for Aesthetics Opens

The XIVth World Congress for Aesthetics opened Tuesday in Ljubljana, gathering about 400 participants from all five continents of the world. The outgoing president of the International Association for Aesthetics (IAA), Dr. Arnold Berleant in his address summarized the activities of the IAA that currently comprises 26 national societies for aesthetics and many individuals, while the incoming IAA president, Slovene philosopher Ales Erjavec underlined the role of aesthetics as the philosophy of art that is directly related to parallel inquiries into the nature of arts and culture.
