Ljubljana, 3 September - Boris Yeltsin and Bill Clinton first shook hands in April 1993 in Vancouver, Canada. Over the next five years they held as many as fifteen meetings. None of them was short of fine-sounding phrases, friendly shoulder tapping and American praise for Russia keeping on the reforms. Yeltsin was eager to assure his American guest Russia would never sway from its course of economic and democratic reform, while Clinton in turn reiterated all support from the United States and the West, daily Delo writes Thursday.
