Parliament Speaker and German Ambassador about EU issues

National Assembly Speaker Janez Podobnik on Tuesday received German Ambassador Heike Zenker, who proposed the meeting in the light of preparations for the German presidency over the European Union to begin on 1 January 1999. In that period Slovenia as a candidate for full EU membership will be intensively engaged in bringing its legislation in line with the EU standards.
