Education in the Centre of Attention Again

On the eve of the emergency parliamentary session, which is expected to consider measures to address the anomalies in his ministry, Minister of Education and Sport Slavko Gaber responded to a pastoral letter in which Slovene bishops demand the introduction of religious classes to schools as well as criticism of the education reform in an interview for Television Slovenia Tuesday night. As to the claims by the proponents of the emergency session, the Social Democratic Party (SDS) and Slovene Christian Democrats (SKD), of his objective responsibility for the alleged spread of corruption in education, Minister Gaber said the ensuing debate would prove the falseness of such claims.
