The economic situation in Slovenia has recently been rated twice; while the European Commission released its autumn report on the economic trends in EU candidates in 1998, the Slovene central bank issued a communication summarizing a Council of the Bank of Slovenia session on monetary and economic trends in domestic and international financial markers, in which it warned the Slovene government and parliament, and perhaps also Slovene businessmen, to be cautious. For a change the rating from Brussels was more optimistic than a laconic statement from Slovene bankers, but according to Thursday's issue of Delo the central bank should be listened carefully this time.
