Report Compiled by Slovene Lawmaker in the CoE for the First Time

Ljubljana, 25 September - COE/SLOVENIA/PAHOR
The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly passed on Wednesday the report on the European Code of Conduct on Arms Sales, a report compiled by Slovene lawmaker Borut Pahor. This has been the first report prepared for the CoE Parliamentary Assembly by a member of the Slovene delegation, Pahor told a news conference on Friday. The CoE political committee tasked Pahor in the beginning of 1998 to prepare this recently passed report.*** The European Code of Conduct on Arms Sales, passed by the CoE ministerial council in June, attempts to set high criteria for arms exports from the EU member nations. It contains eight criteria, including the respect of human rights in the country of final destination, and preservation of regional peace, stability and security.
