Ljubljana, 11 November - A bill on foreigners' right to acquire real estate in Slovenia re-opened parliamentary debate on the Slovenia-EU associate agreement, the signing of which entailed Slovenia's submission to the will of the powerful. A difficult fact to reconcile to, this was a severe blow on Slovenia, a nation that has only recently gained independence. As a result, the adoption of the Spanish compromise and a consequent change to the Constitution were accompanied by statements saying that national interests had been betrayed but could be amended by passing appropriate protective legislation, Delo says on Wednesday.
