Government Prepares Measures to Make up for the Delay in Adjusting to the EU

Ljubljana, 15 December - Slovene Minister for European Affairs Igor Bavcar spoke Tuesday about an extensive package of government measures which should make up for the delay in bringing Slovene legislation into line with the acquis. The measures have already been sent to the National Assembly. Minister Bavcar is convinced that the delay can be made up for by the second semester of 1999 when the European Commission is due to release another assessment of EU candidates' progress towards full-membership .
