Slovene and EU Parliamentarians Complete First Session
Strasbourg, 16 December - The founding meeting of the Slovenia-EU parliamentary committee wound up on Wednesday evening with the adoption of some recommendations to the Slovene and EU parliaments. The basic message of this two-day Strasbourg meeting is that Slovenia should speed up harmonisation of its legislation with the acquis communautaire and carry on with all the required reforms as this is the only way to become ready for integration into the Union. At the meeting Slovene and EU lawmakers as well as representatives of Austria as the presiding member of the EU discussed Slovenia's integration into the 15-nation bloc.
