Parliament Passes 1999 Budget
Ljubljana, 18 December - BUDGET/99
Parliament passed Friday the 1999 budget which puts government expenditures at SIT 960.7 billion (US$ 6.004 bn), about two billion above the original proposal, and government revenues at SIT 930.9 billion (US$ 5.8 bn), SIT 2.1 billion more than planned. Budget deficit ramains equal to that originally planned at SIT 29.8 billion (US$ 186.2 m), 0.9 percent of the GDP. Total volume of public borrowing for 1999 is SIT 108.3 billion (US$ 676.8m), up SIT 10.5 billion (US$ 65.6m) from the original proposal. This is the first time in the present legislative period that the parliament passed the budget in time, before the end of the budget year.
