Minister Smrkolj on Agriculture Budget
Ljubljana, 21 December - The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food will get SIT 30.9 billion (about US$ 193.1 million) from the national budget next year. This is 13 percent less than this year when the ministry had SIT 27.3 billion (US$ 170.6 million) at its disposal. The 1999 agriculture budget was cut by about SIT 20 million (US$ 125,000) during the debate in parliament, but despite lower funds the ministry expects to set up a system that will allow drawing pre-accession assistance after the year 2000, Minister Ciril Smrkolj said Monday.
