EU and Slovenia in the Week from 2 through 8 January
Ljubljana, 10 January - The single European currency, the Euro, made its debut in the international financial scene early in the week after it was introduced by eleven EU member states on 1 January. In Slovenia, the Euro exchange rate on 5 January was SIT SIT 188.57 according to the Bank of Slovenia mean exchange rate. Another outstanding EU-related issue in Slovenia was the ongoing debate about Austria's claim to run stud books of origin of the Lipizzaner horses.
