Delo: How to Capitalize on Transit

Ljubljana, 19 January - Italy has undoubtedly great plans in building roads and railways as well as in the power sector in Slovenia. That was confirmed by Italy's Foreign Trade Minister Piero Fassino on Monday. Cooperation in building traffic infrastructure and power industry projects in Slovenia represents for the Italians chiefly the opening of the first door to achieve their main target in penetrating towards the East, where they would like to become a leading power. They have very strong rivals thereby, mainly the Germans and the Austrians. The Slovenes are quite unimportant. If they were not on the way of Italians, the latter would be much less interested in the state of roads the Slovenes drive on and how they will be provided with oil and gas, Delo writes in Tuesday issues.
