Church - State Relations Closer to a Solution
Ljubljana, 2 February - After six years of negotiations the Government and the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) reached agreement on RCC's legal status in Slovenia. The relevant document providing a legal basis for the potential partial agreement between Slovenia and the Holy See was singed on 1 February in Ljubljana by Justice Minister Tomaz Marusic and Dr. Anton Stress at a joint session of the government commission for outstanding issues with RCC and the Slovene Episcopal Conference commission for relations with the government. The government confirmed the text of the document on 14 January.
