Vecer: Interview with Slovene Metropolitan Franc Rode

Slovene metropolitan and Ljubljana archbishop Franc Rode commented in an interview for Saturday's edition of daily Vecer the position of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) in Slovenia, Slovene education and politics, and national reconciliation. He stressed the current government of Premier Janez Drnovsek and President Milan Kucan had clearly realized some time ago that some sort of a settlement between RCC and the government, and between Slovenia and the Holy See, was good for the country, for its international reputation and for national reconciliation. The recent draft agreement is a sign of political wisdom and maturity of the government and the president, Rode said.
