Slovenia Records Increasing Number of Illegal Migrations, Mostly from Kosovo
Ljubljana, 10 February - SLOVENIA/ILLEGAL/MIGRATIONS
Slovene police forces detained 13,740 foreigners trying to cross the Slovene border illegally in 1998, a rise of nearly 50 percent from 1997. Last January the number of illegal migrants totalled 1,436, a sharp rise compared to only 391 foreigners arrested in January 1997, official data released by the Slovene Interior Ministry has shown.
