Three-Country 2006 Winter Olympics Bid Presented in New York

Slovenia, Italy's region of Friuli Venezia Guilia and the Austrian federal state of Carynthia presented Friday their joint bid for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. The the principles of the "Olympics Without Borders" candidacy were presented at a news conference in New York by retired Austrian ski champion Franz Klammer along with Danilo Tuerk, Slovenia's ambassador to the United Nations, Christof Zernatto, governor of Carynthia, and Roberto Antonione, premier of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
