Government Answers Deputy Queries on Tourism and Duty Free Shops

About 30 to 40 percent of tourists cancelled their planned visits to Slovenia during the forthcoming Easter holidays because of the Kosovo crisis. The government will launch a promotion campaign next week to present Slovenia as a safe destination, allocating new resources in addition to SIT 768 million (about US$ 4.36 million) of planned budget funds. Nevertheless, proceeds from tourism are expected not to meet plans this year, Tomaz Zajc, state secretary for tourism, said during a parliamentary queries period at Parliament's ordinary session that continued Tuesday in Ljubljana.
