The Kosovo crisis remained a prominent item on the agenda of the Slovene foreign policy. The parliament passed the government motion for Slovenia to provide refuge to 4000 displaced persons from Kosovo and Foreign Minister Boris Frlec attended a meeting in Brussels between U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and her counterparts from the countries in or bordering the Balkans region. Kosovo was also an issue of talks between Interior Ministers of Slovenia and Croatia in Zagreb. A visit to Slovenia's southern neighbour was also made by Chief of the Slovenian Armed Forces General Staff, brig. Iztok Podbregar, while Slovak Defence Minister Pavol Kanis visited Ljubljana.
