Slovene Ironworks Reduce Their Loss

Ljubljana, 29 April - GOVERNMENT/IRONWORKS
Certain indicators and reports on last year's operation of the Slovene Ironworks, which were presented to the cabinet on Thursday, show positive movements. An increase was recorded in the output as well as sales per an employed. Last year the concern incurred a nett loss of about SIT 10 billion (US$ 55 million), a decrease of SIT 4 billion from 1997, Branka Kostic, a state undersecretary in the Ministry of Economic Activities, said. Last year's results were nevertheless below the targets set in the rehabilitation plan, so the government tasked the supervisory board to prepare additional measures.
