International Writers' Meeting Overshadowed by the Balkans War

About one hundred writers and intellectuals from 32 countries, including Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and other countries in the region, along with UNSECO and PEN International representatives are expected to attend a round table of the PEN International Peace Committee on Friday during the 32nd International Writers' Meeting at Bled. The table "The Role of Writers for the Promotion of the Culture of Peace" is one of the first direct meetings of intellectuals from the Balkan region after the escalation of the conflict and practically the only one that could be arranged under current circumstances, Peace Committee Chairman Boris A. Novak said on Tuesday.
