Preparations for EU Accession Necessary on the Local Level as Well

The European Community law does not intervene in the area of local self-government of the member states, but the time of the state as the only authority in charge of setting regulations is over. Slovenia has signed the European Charter on Local Self-Government, but the present situation calls for the introduction of regions before full integration into the EU, as such regulation would be comparable to Europe and would therefore facilitate the implementation of European Community law, a workshop found on Tuesday.
