Small banks will have to merge with bigger ones or specialise to find a niche, Economic Mirror establishes in the latest issue. Three largest banks owned 51.7 percent of the overall assets, the following four 21.3 percent and the rest 17 only 27 percent of Slovene banks' total assets at the end of 1998, according to the monthly publication of the Office for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (UMAR).
