Railway Slovenia-Hungary to Open New Potentials for Port of Koper

Nearly one million tons of cargo were transhipped for the Hungarian economy in Slovenia's Port of Koper in 1998, approximately 12 percent of all cargo transhipped in the port. When the railway line connecting Slovenia and Hungary is built, transport prices will go down by about two dollars and the volume of transshipped cargo could go up to about 1.5 million tons or even 2 million tons in the short term according to Mitja Dujc, the Port of Koper's representative in Budapest.
