Ljubljana, 1 July - GOVERNMENT/SESSION
The government endorsed position papers for four new chapters of the acquis, including free movement of services, transport, taxation, and environment, at its regular weekly session on Thursday. Following confirmation in the parliament, the position papers will be delivered to Brussels by the end of July together with those of the other five applicants that have already started membership negotiations. Slovenia will request a ten-year transitional period (until 31 Dec. 2015) to comply with EU's sewage water regulations, a five-year transitional period for packaging and waste packaging treatment, starting from the planned day of accession, a two-year transitional period from the planned day of accession for fuel quality regulations, and a four-year transitional period for industrial pollution prevention and control (until 30 Sept. 2011).
