State Department Official on Balkan Stability Pact

The U.S. expects that the state leaders which will gather in Sarajevo at the end of July will "give a jump start" to the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe. "Constructive ideas" are expected to be given, and "I only hope that the leaders would have constructive response" to them, U.S. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Anthony Wayne, who is in charge of European and Canadian affairs, said in a videoconference on Thursday in which Slovene, Bulgarian and Rumanian journalists as well as some junior Slovene government officials participated.
