Gov't Earmarks Aid for Kosovo Refugees Returning Home

The government will provide financial assistance to Kosovo refugees residing in Slovenia for their return home, the cabinet decided at a session on Thursday. Lump-sum payments will amount up to SIT 60,000 (DM 600) for persons whose travel expenses have not been covered by the UNHCR or in some other way and up to SIT 35,000 for those whose expenses have been covered. Two groups of Kosovo refugees will return home in an organised way before the end of the month. The persons concerned are about 300 refugees with the status of temporary refuge and without travel documents. So far 30 refugees have returned home at their own initiative, according to the Immigration Office.
