A German Citizen Dies on River Soca

A German citizen died in an accident on the Soca river, western Slovenia, on Tuesday afternoon. The fatal accident occurred near the place Proda near Podklopca, about four kilometres from Bovec, when a group of ten German citizens kayaked the river Soca from Bovec towards Zaga. The leader of the group noticed branches in the river and warned the others to avoid the dangerous spot. A 53-year-old member of the group, who ignored the warning, hit the branches and overturned. The other members of the group came immediately to his assistance, but could not rescue him. The deceased German citizen came from the vicinity of Berlin, Radio Slovenia reported.
