Theologian Accuses the State of Inability to Revive Civil Society
Ljubljana, 18 August - "The original sin of our State is that it has done practically nothing to revive the civil society. While the State has based its performance on power, the government guides the course of society's life. In the period of transition from totalitarianism to a democratic society people try to do something useful themselves, yet for the main part this transition cannot be carried out without the help of the State and cannot enable an oppressed and passive subject to become an active, responsible and critical citizen in a short time. This country is not offering such help," Dr Drago Ocvirk, a professor at the Ljubljana Theological Faculty, said in an interview for the weekly Mag.
