Dnevnik: Peterle's Final Annual Meeting

Ljubljana, 30 August - PRESS/SKD/ANNUAL/MEETING
If the announcements on unifying made by the leaders of the Slovene Christian Democrats (SKD) and the Slovene People's Party (SLS) realise, than this year's SKD annual meeting in Carinthia's Prevalje, northeast, has been the last. Yet the wish of the president of SKD, Lojze Peterle, to become the president of the new unified party can only be a political illusion. In case SLS and SKD really unify next year, Peterle will of course have no reason to organise a meeting on his own. Yet a final decision on the merger is obviously still far away, despite the circulating hints that everything has been agreed upon and only one or two minor questions regarding who will occupy which position remain open, Slovene daily Dnevnik writes on Monday.
