Weekly Review of Events in Slovenia from 28 August through 3 September

Ljubljana, 4 September - Slovene diplomacy held its 6th annual conference at Brdo pri Kranju. Focused on specific foreign policy issues, the diplomats agreed Slovenia had managed to establish itself in recent years as a credible partner to the international community. Foreign Minister Boris Frlec also said Slovenia has "better and worse embassies, even such that fail to meet expectations in full". Frlec also commented on relations with Croatia, an issue that was also touched on by President Milan Kucan at the Gornja Radgona Agriculture Trade Show. Slovenia was granted observer status at the 8th Summit of Francophonie. A new group of Kosovo refugees returned home from Slovenia and humanitarian convoy was sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina for Slovene families living there. Slovenia also joined relief efforts in Turkey after the quake by sending medical aid.
