Letters to the Pope on Government's Attitude to Mass Graves, Judiciary and Education

Ljubljana, 9 September - POPE/LETTERS
Two Slovene associations, namely United at the Lime Tree of Reconciliation and the Civil Society for Democracy and the Rule of Law addressed two letters to Pope John Paul II, who is visiting Slovenia on 19 September. The letters point to the current attitude of the Slovene government to the mass graves from after the Second World War, stressing that the government is covering up the postwar crimes, not allowing the burial of the victims and not condemning those responsible for the killings, Stanislav Klep and Vinko Vodopivec said at a news conference on Thursday. A similar letter is being drawn up by the Slovene World Congress as well.
