VAT a Milestone in Economic Trends

Projected effects of the value added tax on economic trends, trade exchange and domestic demand have divided the year to two distinct periods. While domestic spending soared in May and June, a sudden but considerable turn downwards was reported in July and August. Because of higher imports not even a radical change in the second half of the year can now prevent a huge annual deficit in Slovenia's trade exchange, experts of the Faculty of Law Economic Institute (EIPF) said in the semi-annual issue of the Economic Trends bulletin.
