The available statistical data on economic trends in the first half of the year and some indirect signals from the economy put trends of growth in a better light as compared to earlier forecasts. The indicated pulse of demand in domestic and foreign markets for the autumn period is likely to improve rather than weaken the current economic results for 1999. It is still realistic enough to expect a 3.5 percent growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) for this year, according to the latest issue of Economic Trends, published by the Economic Outlook and Policy Services of the Chamber of Commerce and Trade of Slovenia (GZS).
