The EU Bring Up Denationalisation at Accession Talks
Brussels, 30 September - The EU brought up the issue of denationalization as part of the principle of non-discrimination at Thursday's accession negotiations with Slovenia on the free movement of capital. The EU pointed to this principle stipulated in the EU treaty which bans discrimination based on nationality. The Slovene side maintains, however, that denationalisation is not part of the acquis and should therefore not be discussed at the negotiations on EU membership, which focus on the harmonisation of the candidates' legislation with the acquis.
