Opening World Cup Contests to Take place on Account of Planica's 60th Anniversary

The opening World Cup ski jumping contests in the 1993/94 season will be held in Planica (on December 11 and 12). Planica is to celebrate its 60th anniversary as a competitive ski jumping venue in March 1994, at the same time as the Ski Jump World Championship. Coinciding with this will be the 25th anniversary of the Planica new 120 metre ski jump which was constructed by the brothers Gorišek. Twelve countries (Austria, Finland, France, Italy, Ukraine, USA, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Canada, Slovakia, Slovenia) have so far applied for the opening World Cup contests (on the 90 and 120 metre ski jumps).
