Sociologist Sreco Dragos believes the synod can work in either of two directions: nothing important will happen and the synodal event will only confirm the orientation of the Church so far, or the Roman Catholic Church will seriously consider its future steps in the situation "when Catholics form a majority in Slovenia, while the majority opinion is critical of the Church, and Church officials of everything outside ecclesiastic circles", the Maribor daily writes in Thursday's issue.
