Government Position on Koper-Intereuropa Merger Unchanged

Ljubljana, 25 November - GOVERNMENT/PORT/KOPER/INTEREVROPA/MERGER
The government is in favour of Port of Koper - Intereuropa merger but it believes all necessary conditions for a successful merger have not yet been met. To cut across opposing views, it suggests that not decision regarding the merger be taken at the forthcoming general meetings of both companies, or rather that Port of Koper cancels the meeting it has announced already. In case investors vote on all items on the agenda, the government shall authorise its representative to vote against the proposed decisions at the meetings. The government also suggests that deciding the merger contract be postponed until the next general assembly to be held after January 2000.
